NEW YORK, March 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Former heavyweight world champion in boxing, Nigerian Samuel Peter will resume his sports career after a 3-year pause, US media report.
Peter will take part in Super 8 tournament due to take place June 4 in Oakland, New Zealand. The prize fund amounts to $500 thousand. The tournament’s winner will get $200,000.
Peter was WBS heavyweight champion in 2007-2008 losing it to Vitali Klitschko. The boxer ended his career in April 2011, when Finn Robert Helenius knocked him down.
All in all, the 33-year-old Nigerian boxer has had 39 fights, 34 wins (27 of them KO) and 5 losses.
