Poland’s speed skater Zbigniew Brodka wins gold in men’s 1500 meters

Russian Denis Yuskov ranked fourth

SOCHI, February 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Polish speed skater Zbigniew Brodka has won Olympic gold in men’s 1500 meters race with a result of 1 minute 45.006 seconds.

Silver went to Dutch Koen Verweij (1.45.009), bronze — to Canadian Denny Morrison (1.45.009).

Among Russian athletes, best result showed Denis Yuskov, who ranked fourth (1.45.37). Ivan Skobrev came 18th (1.47.62), Alexei Yesin was 24th (1.48.10), and Alexei Suvorov — 25th (1.48.11).

 

Biography

Zbigniew Brodka was born October 8, 1984 in Glowno. He is bronze winner of the World Championship of 2013 in team pursuit race. He climbed the podium twice at the World Cup of the 2013/14 season: in Berlin and Astana. In Sochi, he also took part in the 1000 meters race, ranking 14th.
