SOCHI, February 8. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian figure skating team is well ahead of nearest rivals in team competition at Sochi Olympics after fourth event, women’s short program.

After the latest competition, 15-year-old Russian figure skater Yulia Lipnitskaya showed best result (72.90 points). Italian Carolina Kostner came second with 70.84, and Japan’s Mao Asada came third with 64.07 points.

The Russian team scored 37 points in total followed by Canadians (32 points) and Americans (27 points).

Later on Saturday, pairs will present their free skating program.
