Norwegian Marit Bjorgen wins Olympic gold in cross-country skiing

SOCHI, February 8. /ITAR-TASS/. Norwegian skier Marit Bjorgen came first in cross-country ski race with a result of 38.33,6 seconds.

The silver medal went to Charlotte Kalla from Sweden (38.35,4), and another Norwegian athlete Heidi Weng (38.35,4) won the bronze.

Among Russian skiers the best result was shown by Yulia Chekaleva, who came 15th (40.11,4). Natalia Zhukova came 31st (40.15,5), Olga Kuznetsova — 21st (40.43,2), and Irina Khazova — 28th (41.00,3).

Cross-country skiing is a race that consists of two stages. On the first stage, the athletes run in classic style, and on the second — in freestyle.
