Biathlon

Biahtlon combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting from prone and standing positions.

The first biathlon competitions were held at the 1924 Olympics in Chamonix, France. Starting from the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley biathlon has been included in the schedule of each consecutive Games. Originally it was an exclusively men’s event. Women’s biathlon was added at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Alberville.

Ten sets of medals are at stake.
