Belarusian national teams have been suspended from international competitions since 2022

GENEVA, November 7. /TASS/. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has barred Belarusian national teams from competing in the 2027 World Men’s and World Junior Championships, the IIHF press service reported.

Belarusian national teams have been suspended from international competitions since 2022.

"The Council’s decision followed a ruling by the IIHF Disciplinary Board, which partially upheld the appeal filed by the Belarus Ice Hockey Federation against the Council’s decisions of July 27, 2026. In its ruling, the Disciplinary Board confirmed that there were no legal grounds for the immediate reinstatement of the national teams. In making its decision, the Council took into account the existing sporting and organizational conditions for both championships, including the competition structure, schedule, ticket sales and operational planning. In view of these circumstances, the Council determined that the Belarusian national teams will not participate in these two championships in the 2027 season," the IIHF press service said in a statement.
