The investigation may be linked to reports of a possible payment to Infantino’s alleged mistress

LONDON, August 9. /TASS/. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) could launch an investigation into FIFA President Gianni Infantino, The Telegraph reported.

The investigation may be linked to reports of a possible payment to Infantino’s alleged mistress. The Telegraph previously reported that UEFA paid a six-figure settlement to an employee who was in a romantic relationship with Infantino while he served as the European football body’s secretary general. According to a source, the inquiry will cover Infantino’s 16 years at UEFA, from 2000 to 2016.

Infantino served as UEFA secretary general from 2009 to 2016 before becoming FIFA president. He has since been re-elected twice unopposed. He has been married since 2001 and has four children.
