MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. The Executive Board of World Triathlon has decided to fully authorize Russian junior and youth athletes to participate in tournaments organized under the organization’s auspices, Russian Sports Minister and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev announced on his Max channel.

The decision took effect immediately, so in April Russian athletes will be able to enter World Triathlon events in Spain and Uzbekistan.

"I congratulate the Russian Triathlon Federation, the athletes, the fans, and our entire sports community on yet another positive decision for us," Degtyarev said.

In December 2025, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee recommended that international federations allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in youth events under their national flag and with their national anthem. This recommendation applies to both individual and team sports. Athletes on Russia’s national triathlon team compete in World Triathlon tournaments under neutral status.
