THE HAGUE, December 1. /TASS/. The match between Ajax and Groningen in Amsterdam was halted due to riots in the stands, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) reported.

"The safety of players and everyone working on and around the pitch cannot be maintained. We understand the disappointment of the vast majority of Ajax fans and visitors from Groningen," the association said on X.

The KNVB emphasized that those who instigated or took part in the riots will be punished.
