WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals became the first player in National Hockey League (NHL) history to score 900 goals in regular-season games.

Ovechkin scored his 900th goal during the second period of a home game against St. Louis, bringing the score to 2-0. With this milestone in the 2024/25 season, Ovechkin surpassed Canadian forward Wayne Gretzky, who had 894 goals in NHL regular-season play.
