Israeli anthem booed before start of football match in Paris
Prior to the event, leftist politicians and activists staged a protest at a square in Paris’ northern suburb of Saint-Denis
PARIS, November 15. /TASS/. Football fans booed and whistled when the Israeli national anthem was played at the start of the France vs Israel football match of UEFA Nations League, Reuters reported.
The game is taking place at the Stade de France stadium. It is attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Prior to the event, leftist politicians and activists staged a protest at a square in Paris’ northern suburb of Saint-Denis.
The match is taking place a week after a Europa League match involving Maccabi Tel Aviv football club wreaked havoc in Amsterdam.
On the night of November 8, at least 10 Israelis were injured in an attack by Palestinian supporters in Amsterdam, according to Israel's Ynet news website. The incident occurred outside the stadium following the UEFA Europa League match between the local Ajax football club and Maccabi Tel Aviv (5-0). At least five fans were stabbed, and some were struck by a passing car.
