Dmitry Vasilenko elected President of Russian Weightlifting Federation

MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. Dmitry Vasilenko has been elected new President of the Russian Weightlifting Federation, a delegate to the federation’s election meeting told TASS.

Vasilenko eared 65 votes. Maxim Agapitov, the federation’s president since 2016, scored nine votes.

Vasilenko, 42, has been secretary general of the federation and a member of its executive board. He holds the title of Candidate to Master of Sports in weightlifting and speed skating. In 2004, he won silver of the European Championship in the 5,000 m short track relay. Apart from that, he is five-time champion of Russia in this discipline.

Agapitov, 54, won the title of the world champion in weightlifting in 1997. In the following year, he was awarded the tile of Distinguished Master of Sport.
