MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia’s Daria Kasatkina defeated Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine to reach the quarterfinals of the WTA Charleston Open tennis tournament.
Kasatkina, seeded fourth, won the event 6:1, 6:4. Kalinina was seeded 15th.
In the quarterfinal, the Russian player will face the winner of the match between Emma Navarro of Spain and Jaqueline Cristian of Romania.
Kasatkina, 26, is currently ranked 11th in the WTA Rankings and has six WTA tournament titles to her name. To date, her best result in Grand Slams was in 2022 when she reached the semifinals of the French Open. She was also part of the Russian team that won the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup.
