DUBAI, March 1. /TASS/. Russia’s tennis player Andrey Rublev has been disqualified for insulting a line judge during the semifinal match against Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik at the 2024 ATP (the Association of Tennis Professionals) Dubai Tennis Championships.
The Russian player (the second seed at the tournament) was defaulted from the match, which ended 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-5 as a win for Bublik (the No.7 seed). Rublev verbally abused one of the line judges, and shortly afterwards the tournament referee decided to default the Russian player.
In the final, Bublik will face the winner of the semifinal match between Russia’s Daniil Medvedev and France’s Ugo Humbert.
