Minsk virtual cycling team becomes first winner in Games of the Future
They scored 522 points in the overall standings
KAZAN, February 23. /TASS/. Members of the Belarusian team Minsk, who won the virtual cycling event, became the first winners of the Games of the Future in Kazan. They scored 522 points in the overall standings, leaving behind Marathon Tula and Italian Espresso teams.
A member of the team, multiple Belarusian champion, winner of renowned international cycling races Evgeniy Sobol praised his teammates for their contributions in the pivotal race. "Of course, their support was very helpful - we have a very close-knit team, and you could sense that," Sobol said.
The competition featured 12 four-person teams, as well as medalists from the Olympic Games, World and European Championships from various countries. The competition consisted of five stages - the team with the most points over all five phases won the competition. The participants in the virtual bicycle event, which took place in the Russian simulator WattAttack, traveled more than 40 kilometers.
The Games of the Future will end on March 3. They feature new disciplines using modern technologies, the digital environment, as well as real-world physical exercise. The competitive format makes advantage of cutting-edge innovations in e-sports, robotics, augmented and virtual reality, information technology, and artificial intelligence. The competition attracted over 2,000 participants from over 100 different countries.
