MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic is set to play next year at the Summer Olympic Games in France, India’s magazine Sportstar quoted the tennis star as saying on Wednesday.
"It will be something unique and special to win the Olympic gold for my country," the World’s No. 1 told Sportstar.
Djokovic, 36, shares the all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles with women’s great Margaret Court. However, Court won 13 out of her 24 Grand Slam champion’s titles before the Open Era (since 1968). On the men’s side, Djokovic’s closest contender in terms of Grand Slam titles is Spain’s Rafael Nadal with 22.
In addition to his 24 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic is the winner of 98 ATP (the Association of Tennis Professionals) tournaments, the bronze medalist of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2010 Davis Cup winner.
The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be hosted by the French capital of Paris between July 26 and August 11.
