MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. The Disciplinary Board of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has rejected the appeals submitted by the CSKA Moscow club and goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov, the IIHF said in a statement.

"The independent IIHF Disciplinary Board has dismissed the appeals submitted by Ivan Fedotov and the Professional Hockey Club (‘CSKA’) against IIHF’s decision to implement sanctions on Mr. Fedotov for the breach of his National Hockey League (‘NHL’) Standard Player Contract (‘SPC’) with the Philadelphia Flyers and on CSKA for inducing Mr. Fedotov to breach his SPC with the NHL when he signed with CSKA for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 season," the statement says.

On August 4, 2023, the IIHF sided with the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Club of the National Hockey League (NHL) in a dispute with Russia’s CSKA Moscow hockey club over Fedotov, as the American club transferred his contract from the 2022/23 season to the 2023/24 season due to the ice hockey player’s military service. The IIHF also ruled to bar CSKA Moscow for the period of one year from entering international players’ transfers following the case of Fedotov. The federation also suspended Fedotov until December 31, 2023, as he had not returned to the NHL club.

The Russia-based Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced that the CSKA Moscow HC can nominate Fedotov for matches, after the Prosecutor General’s Office notified the KHL and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation that the IIHF ruling was illegal in terms of the athlete’s labor rights. After Fedotov had hit the ice in the first match, the IIHF imposed a $5,600 fine on the KHL.
