Russian Chess Federation head invites foreign players to take part in Friendship Games

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov has invited chess players from all over the world to take part in the World Friendship Games, assuring that the tournament will be memorable both for them and their fans for many years to come, according to Filatov’s statement released by the federation’s press service.
"On behalf of the Chess Federation of Russia I am very pleased to invite your athletes to take part in chess competition during the first World Friendship Games scheduled for September 23-29, 2024," he said. "Our Federation has strong chess traditions, a significant number of chess champions, a long history and unprecedented experience in chess development and promotion as well as chess education and organization of high-level chess events."
"The chess competitions within the World Friendship Games are arranged over seven days, with one day for arrival, three days for rapid, two for blitz, and one day for departure," Filatov said.
"The World Friendship Games are one of the large-scale Russian projects in the international sports arena and a multi-sport commercial tournament with a significant prize fund and medals for the winners made of pure gold. I am sure that the competitions will bring together the best players from all over the globe and the inaugural chess edition of the World Friendship Games will be remembered by fans for years to come," the president of the Russian Chess Federation added.
The World Friendship Games will be held in Moscow and Yekaterinburg on September 15-29, 2024.
