ST. PETERSBURG, December 30. /TASS/. Ekaterina Lagno of Russia has won the World Chess Federation (FIDE) World Blitz Women’s Championship that finished in Russia’s second largest city of Saint Petersburg on Sunday.
Lagno, 29, scored 13.5 points in 17 rounds. Iranian player Sarasadat Khademalsharieh was second, with 13 points, and Lei Tingjie of China was third, with 12.5 points.
Lagno, a Russian national since 2014, is a two-times European champion (2005, 2008) and a world champion (2010) in blitz chess and a world champion (2014) in rapid chess.
