Russia’s parathletes don't deserve unfair decision on 2018 Paralympics — Kremlin

On December 19, the International Paralympic Committee will make a decision on whether to restore the powers of the Russian Paralympic Committee

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russia’s Paralympic team does not deserve an unfair decision regarding its participation in the 2018 Games, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

"We are closely following [decisions by the International Paralympic Committee concerning Russia’s participation in the 2018 Games], watching and waiting," Peskov told the media. "Naturally, we would like to hope for the best. Of course, our parathletes, our heroes do not deserve unfair treatment," he said.

On December 19, the International Paralympic Committee will make a decision on whether to restore the powers of the Russian Paralympic Committee. The decision will be announced on December 22. The RPC’s membership of the IPC was suspended in August 2016 on the basis of a report presented by an independent commission led by Richard McLaren. The Russian team was absent from the 2016 Paralympics.
