MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl’s decision to be trained by Russia’s merited coach, Eteri Tutberidze, ahead of the European championship has been approved by the Italian Ice Sports Federation (FISG), Italy’s national broadcaster Rai reported on Wednesday.
The 2023 European Figure Skating Championships is being hosted by Finland’s Espoo between January 25 and 29.
The Italian broadcaster reported, citing its source, that Grassl arrived in Finland accompanied by two coaches from Tutberidze’s team - Daniil Gleikhengauz and Sergey Dudakov. According to the report, FISG supports the athlete’s decision and has established contact with Tutberidze’s coaching team.
Grassl, 20, skating in men’s singles, emerged as the silver medal winner of the 2022 European Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn, and the bronze medal winner of the 2019 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Zagreb. The Italian athlete finished in 7th place, skating at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
