Stephanie Frappart to become first female referee of World Cup match

Two more female referees have been selected for the tournament in Qatar

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Stephanie Frappart of France will referee the Germany - Costa Rica group stage match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first-ever female referee to take charge of a World Cup event, the global football’s governing body said on Tuesday.

Earlier, 38 year-old Frappart officiated the Poland-Mexico World Cup match as the fourth official.

Two more female referees have been selected for the tournament in Qatar - Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan and Salima Mukansanga of Rwanda.

The Germany-Costa Rica match of the World Cup’s Group E will begin at 22:00 local time (same as Moscow time) on December 1 at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
