Qatari police officer tells about fans’ attempts to bring alcohol to stadiums

Despite the FIFA ban, there are attempts to smuggle alcohol at almost every game

AL KHOR, November 27. /TASS/. Football fans are attempting to bring alcohol to stadiums during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in flasks disguised in particular as binoculars and telephone chargers, a police officer dealing with the inspection of fans at the Al Bayt Stadium told TASS.

FIFA informed earlier about the ban on beer sales in the territory of stadiums during the World Cup in Qatar.

"Attempts [to bring alcohol] occur at almost every match. Fans are attempting to use hidden flasks in binoculars, telephone chargers and musical instruments. They also pour alcohol into bottles from other beverages. We are working attentively nevertheless," the police officer said.

Laws of Qatar prohibit consumption of alcoholic beverages in public areas.
