MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The world’s governing football body, FIFA, has authorized a friendly football match this month between the national teams of Tajikistan and Russia, the press office of the Tajikistan Football Federation announced to TASS on Tuesday.
The Tajik capital of Dushanbe is set to host a friendly match between the national football squads of Russia and Tajikistan on November 17, scheduled to kick off at 8:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. Moscow time).
"We have been granted authorization from both UEFA [Union of European Football Associations] and FIFA," the federation’s press office reported. "Match result points will be recorded in the FIFA Rankings list. The teams will be able to make six substitutions each."
The press service of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) announced on February 28 that the Russian national team and all professional clubs representing the country were barred from taking part in FIFA tournaments, including the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced the same decision in regard to Russian football. Both FIFA and UEFA linked their decision to Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
