Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev through to Halle Open final

Russia’s Medvedev, 26, was again rated as World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings List on June 13, after being top ranked between February 28 and March 21, 2022

MOSCOW, June 18. /TASS/. World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev beat Germany’s Oscar Otte in a semifinal of the ATP Halle Open in Germany on Saturday.

Medvedev (top seed at the tournament) defeated wild card Otte 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. In the final, the Russian will face the winner of the match between Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz (fifth seed) or Australia’s Nick Kyrgios (unseeded at the tournament).

Russia’s Medvedev, 26, was again rated as World No. 1 in the ATP Rankings List on June 13, after being top ranked between February 28 and March 21, 2022. The Russian is the winner of 13 ATP tournaments. He is also the winner of the 2021 US Open.

World No. 51 Oscar Otte, 28, has not won any ATP tournaments.

The Halle Open is a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It is part of the ATP Tour 500 series and offers over €2 million in prize money.
