Russia’s Khachanov beats fellow Karatsev into 2nd round of Halle Open

The Halle Open is a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/. Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov has beaten fellow countryman Aslan Karatsev in the first-round match at the ATP Halle Open in Germany.

The eighth seed Khachanov won 6:7 (4:7), 6:1, 6:2, and will now face off Serbia’s Laslo Djere.

Khachanov, 26, is ranked 23d in the world and has four ATP titles. He has reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals (2019 French Open and 2021 Wimbledon). He won the silver medal in the singles event at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Halle Open is a tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It is part of the ATP Tour 500 series and offers over €2 million in prize money.
