Special competitions to be organized for Russian Paralympians in Sochi — source

The dates and the name of the competitions are being discussed

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Special competitions will be organized for Russian and Belarusian Palaympians in Sochi, a source in the Russian sports ministry told TASS on Friday.

"Competitions with the participation of Russia and Belarusian athletes will be held at the Olympic facilities in Sochi," the source said. "The dates and the name of the competitions are being discussed."

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said on Wednesday Russian and Belarusian athletes can take part in the Paralympic Games in Beijing in the neutral status. On Thursday, the IPC changed its decision and banned Russian and Belarusian Para athletes from taking part in the Games.

The Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) said on Friday that under the IPC rules this decision cannot be challenged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
