MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. Russia’s FC Spartak Moscow has lost to Poland’s Legia Warsaw in their first group stage match at the UEFA Europa League 0-1, Moscow hosted the game.
Legia’s winger Lirim Kastrati scored the only goal in the 91st minute of the game.
Spartak last played Legia on August 25, 2011, losing 2-3 in the Europa League qualifier playoffs.
The teams compete in Group C together with Italy’s Napoli and England’s Leicester City. Spartak will now face off with Napoli on September 30 in the second round.
The Europa League’s group stage will wrap up on December 9. The two best-ranked teams in each group will make it to the playoffs, while the third-placed teams will be relegated to the UEFA Europa Conference League playoffs. The Europa League final will be played in Seville on May 18.
