Russia’s CSKA Moscow football club extends contract with Mario Fernandes

The player’s previous contract with the club was set to expire in 2022

MOSCOW, February 18. /TASS/. Russian football club CSKA Moscow has extended its contract with Brazil-born defender Mario Fernandes, who plays for the Russian national football team, the club’s press service announced on Thursday.

The player’s previous contract with the club was set to expire in 2022 and both parties agreed today to extend the deal until the end of the 2023/2024 season of the Russian Premier League (RPL).

Fernandes, 30, has been playing for CSKA Moscow FC since 2012 winning three Russian championships with the club. In all, the defender scored six goals in his 289 matches with CSKA Moscow FC.

He also booked three goals and three assists in his 25-match appearances for the Russian national football team, which he joined in 2017. He played five matches for Russia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup scoring a goal in the quarterfinals match against Croatia.
