Russia’s WBC, IBF World Champ Beterbiev to square off with Germany’s Deines in Moscow

The bout is set for March 20, a source in the Russian boxer’s team told TASS

MOSOW, January 22. /TASS/. Russia’s WBC and IBF light heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev is scheduled to fight in March with German boxer Adam Deines, a source in the Russian boxer’s team told TASS on Friday.

"The fight will take place in Moscow on March 20," the source said.

The bout between Beterbiev and Deines was initially scheduled for January 30, however, the Russian fighter’s team announced on December 29 that Beterbiev had been diagnosed with a positive COVID-19 case and the fight was postponed indefinitely.

Beterbiev, 36, boasts an unblemished boxing career record of 15 wins (all by KO/TKO) and zero defeats. He holds the IBF (the International Boxing Federation) champion’s belt since 2017 and the WBC (the World Boxing Council) champion’s belt since 2019.

The Russian boxer last fought on October 18, 2019 in the US city of Philadelphia against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Gvozdyk and defended both of his champion’s belts with a knockout victory over his Ukrainian opponent.

Germany’s 29-year-old Adam Deines has a professional boxing career record of 19 wins (10 by KO/TKO), one defeat and one draw.
