MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. Italian football club Fiorentina is ready to buy Russian forward Alexander Kokorin from Spartak Moscow FC for 5 million euros (almost $6.1 million), Italy’s sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Thursday.
The daily stated citing its source that the agreement on Kokorin’s transfer has been already reached between Fiorentina FC and Russia’s Spartak Moscow FC and this week the forward is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Italy’s Florence.
According to the Italian daily, Kokorin will be playing in pair with Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who joined Fiorentina FC in 2018.
Other Italian media sources reported earlier that Kokorin’s contract with Fiorentina FC is estimated at 2 million euros ($2.4 million) per season plus bonus payments. According to Transfermarkt.de web portal, Kokorin’s transfer price currently stands at 4.5 million euro ($5.5 million).
Anton Fetisov, a spokesman for Spartak FC, told TASS on Wednesday that the Russian and Italian football clubs were holding direct talks on Kokorin’s transfer without the participation of football agents.
In 2019, Spartak Moscow FC topped the list of Russian football clubs in terms of bonuses paid to football agents for players’ transfers (over $14.2 million).
Kokorin, 29, joined the Russian Premier League’s (RPL) Spartak Moscow FC in 2020. This season he booked two goals and one assist in eight matches.
Before moving to Spartak, Kokorin played for Zenit St. Petersburg FC winning with the club the Russian Championship (2018/2019 season), the Russian Cup (2015/2016 season) and the Russian Super Cup (2016).
Playing for the Russian national football team, Kokorin appeared in 48 matches scoring 12 goals.
Florence-based Fiorentina FC is currently ranked 14th in the Italian Championship standings with 18 points after 18 matches.
