MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. Russia’s CSKA basketball club defeated Spain’s Baskonia on Friday night to reach its seventh consecutive EuroLeague Final Four and its 16th Final Four in 17 years.
Baskonia was defeated 92:83 before its own fans in the Spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The Spanish team led 55-43 midway through the third quarter, but in little more than 10 minutes CSKA erased it all to seize an advantage that it refused to give up the rest of the way.
With Friday’s victory, CSKA won its playoff series 1-3 (94:68, 68:78 and 84:77).
Nando DeColo was unstoppable in scoring 27 points for the winners. His compatriot Vincent Poirier brought 19 points to Gaskonia.
Since 2003, CSKA has failed to reach the Final Four just once, in 2011, when it was eliminated by the end of the regular season. It won EuroLeague three times - in 2006, 2008 and 2016.
The EuroLeague Final Four will be held on May 17-19 in Vitoria-Gasteiz. CSKA will return to the Spanish city to play a semifinal on May 17 against the current EuroLeague champion Real Madrid.
