MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. /TASS/. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Friday that its disciplinary body decided to impose a penalty of 10,000 euros (some $11,150) on the Russian football club Zenit St. Petersburg over club’s fans misconduct at an away match last month.
Disciplinary proceedings were opened following the UEFA Europa League’s Round of 16 match between Spanish football club Villarreal and Zenit St. Petersburg FC (2-1), played on March 14 in Spain.
The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) announced in its statement today that the Russian football club was charged with ‘Acts of Damages.’
"The CEDB has decided to fine Football Club Zenit 10,000 euros for the acts of damages done by its supporters," the statement reads.
"Football Club Zenit is ordered to contact Villarreal CF within 30 days for the settlement of the damages caused by its supporters," the CEDB added in the statement.
