Russia beats Austria 7-0 in Ice Hockey World Championship group stage match

It was Russia’s fourth match vs Austria at world championships, the previous three were won by Russia

COPENHAGEN, May 6. /TASS/. Russia has hammered Austria 7-0 in a group stage match of the 2018 Ice Hockey World Championship that kicked off in Copenhagen on Friday.

The game was played at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena on Sunday.

The goals were scored by Mikhail Grigorenko (in the tenth 24th minutes), Artyom Anisimov (12th minute), Alexander Barabanov (14rd minute), Kirill Kaprizov (30th minute), Maxim Mamin (38th minute), and Ilya Mikheyev (54th minute).

It was Russia’s fourth match vs Austria at world championships. The previous three were won by Russia.

On Friday, Russia defeated France, also 7-0, in the championship’s opening match.

Russia currently tops Group A, with six points. Along with Russia and France, Group A includes Switzerland, Austria, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Sweden. Russia will play its next group stage match on May 7, vs Belarus. Further on, it will confront the Czech Republic (May 10), Switzerland (May 12), Slovakia (May 14), and Sweden (May 15).

Group stage matches will be played till May 15 to be followed by quarter-finals on May 17 and semi-finals on May 19. The final and third-place matches will be played on May 20.
