Grenade found on cargo train crisscrossing Ukraine and Russia
Railway traffic has been suspended
MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/.A total of two passenger trains were delayed in Russia’s southwestern Belgorod region on Thursday because of a grenade found on a cargo train from the Ukrainian city of Kharkov to Belgorod, sources at Russian Railways told TASS.
"It’s true that a grenade was found on a cargo train from Kharkov to Belgorod and because of this we had to delay two passenger services," he stated.
In the meantime, the press service of Russian Railways’ southeastern branch told TASS that a foreign object had been found during a regular technical inspection of the train upon its arrival in Belgorod.
"Railway traffic at the Belgorod station was suspended and the security services dispatched specialists there," it said. "Passenger trains along the Kharkov-Moscow and Lvov-Moscow lines were delayed for more than an hour."
Executives at the Belgorod station declined from commenting on the incident. The Belgorod regional branch of the FSB refrained from commenting, as well.
