Kremlin ‘decks the halls’ with New Year Tree adorned by thousands of stunning ornaments
All ornaments were made by Russian craftsmen especially for the huge 27-meter and 90-year old fir tree
MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia’s main New Year tree installed on the Kremlin’s Cathedral Square was decorated on Thursday with 1,000-meter LED garland lights and some 3,500 ornaments.
"The tree was decorated in a ‘Russian fair’ style. We used traditional Russian ornaments," Yelena Krylova, the spokesperson for the presidential property department, told TASS.
Among them are 30 golden cockerels, 20 blue horses, 20 pretzels and 200 Khokhloma-style spoons, she said.
According to Krylova, all ornaments were made by Russian craftsmen especially for the huge 27-meter and 90-year old fir tree, which was cut near Moscow and brought to the Kremlin last week.
The Matryoshka dolls are 40-centimeters tall, and the horses are even taller.
"Smaller ornaments will not be seen on the tree," Krylova said.
She added that the tree was also decorated with some 3,000 balls, most of which had adorned the Kremlin New Year trees in previous years.
Six 100-meter and twenty 20-meter LED garlands will light up the Kremlin’s New Year tree.
On December 26, the tree will be unveiled and take center stage at traditional children's holiday shows in the Kremlin, set to delight 6,000 kids from all of Russian regions, as well as Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
