Russia’s chief meteorologist says this year proves ongoing global warming
It does not mean, however, that the temperature will be growing every year
MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. The weather in 2017 shows a stable tendency for the global warming, Director of the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia Roman Vilfand said at a TASS press conference on Thursday.
"During the past 10 months, the current year, 2017, is the third among all warmest years. And which are the warmest years? These are 2016, the previous one - the hottest year on the planet, and the year 2015 ranked the second. According to the forecasts - and I believe this forecast to be reliable enough - this will be the third year among the warmest ones," Vilfand said.
This is a sign that "the global warming is not a joke, but an obvious fact," he said.
The head of the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia specified it does not mean that the temperature will be growing every year, but "the issue concerns a trend, and a trend does exist and will continue."
