Moscow exhibition to feature over 1,500 rare 1917 October revolution artifacts
Along with artifacts, it will also feature original documents - decrees, regulations and telegrams, many of them on display for the first time
MOSCOW, March 22. /TASS/. An exhibition featuring over 1,500 rare 1917 October Revolution artifacts, including hand-written notes by Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin and a window from the iconic cruiser Aurora, will open in Moscow Wednesday.
The exhibition, headlined "Revolution code.1917" will be hosted in five halls of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia and will be open for public until November 12. Along with artifacts, it will also feature original documents - decrees, regulations and telegrams, many of them showcased for the first time.
"We have chosen this title, because 1917 is a special figure not only in the history of Russia but also in the global history, because it changed the world dramatically. We would like to inspire some thought in our visitors," said Irina Velikanova, the director of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, previously known as the Revolution Museum.
Russian culture minister Vladimir Medinsky said: "Today marks exactly a century since Moscow authorities decided to set up the Museum of Revolution, and I wish to the museum and to all of us that Moscow authorities would never have any reasons for initiatives of this kind in the future."
