Patriarch Kirill says believes relations between Russia and Ukraine will soon be restored
The Patriarch said the Russian Orthodox Church raised daily prayers about reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine and between the western and eastern regions in that much-suffering country
MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. Patriarch Krill of Moscow and All Russia said on Sunday he believes Russia and Ukraine will soon reconcile.
The Patriarch, who is celebrating his 70th birthday on Sunday, said the Russian Orthodox Church raised daily prayers about reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine and between the western and eastern regions in that much-suffering country.
"We believe that God will heed our prayer. And peace will come to the Ukrainian land and relations between the brotherly peoples of Russia and Ukraine will be restored," the Patriarch said in an interview posted on the website of the Tsargrad television channel on Sunday.
The conflict, in his words, has not affected deeper layers. "This is what serves as a basis for the peacemaking position of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church which knows its perish and which addresses its peacemaking call to the East and to the West," Patriarch Kirill said.
