Putin's spokesman says Pokemon hunt no reason to visit Kremlin
The Kremlin has commented on Pokemon Go’s soaring popularity
MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. Russia's presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that the Kremlin is a popular and self-sufficient tourist attraction, so Pokemon game hunt mania is no reason to visit the landmark.
"Pokemon is not the reason to visit the Kremlin, a treasure trove of world culture," Peskov said. "Moreover, Kremlin is open, which is unprecedented in spite of the fact that it serves as the residence of the Head of state," he added.
Peskov noted that a new park was recently opened in the Kremlin. "It made the Kremlin even more beautiful, and, most importantly, made it more accessible to our citizens and visitors," he said.
At the same time, according to Peskov, so far the game characters have not been spotted in the capital.
"No, I don’t know" he said, answering the question whether there are Pokemon on the premises of the Kremlin and whether it is possible to catch them. "If I'm not mistaken, this game is not yet available in Russia. This is what I read. So I cannot answer competently, I do not play games," he added.
Pokemon Go is an extensive multiplayer free-to-play online game with elements of augmented reality, developed by Niantic for IOS and Android devices. The game was released in July 2016. The game allows players to capture, train and fight with virtual Pokemon, which could be found in real world locations.
