Over 500 children who beat cancer to take part in Winners Games in Moscow
MOSCOW, June 29. /TASS/. The World Children’s Winners Games for children who beat cancer will be held in Moscow for the seventh time from June 29 to July 2 bringing together more than 500 children aged between 7 and 16, the organizers of the event have told TASS.
"For us it is the most inspiring and happy event of the year, and we really want to share it with everyone. We want you to see the children for whose treatment the foundation raised the money a few years ago become winners in race, swimming, football or shooting. We want you not just to believe but know for sure that the disease can be defeated. And there are quite a few such stories," said Nadezhda Kuznetsova, the Winners Games project manager.
Sports events for children who beat cancer are held in Moscow by the Gift of Life charity foundation.
"The first Games were held in 2010 at the Lokomotiv stadium in Moscow to become an unforgettable event for 200 children from 8 countries. The popularity of the Games is growing, and the number of the countries taking part in them is increasing year by year. More than 500 children aged between 7 and 16 will take part in the Games in 2016," the project’s organizers said.
Taking part in the Games this year will be teams from Russian regions and 15 countries.
"Ten years ago we attended the Olympiad for children who beat cancer in Poland for the first time. We returned from the competitions completely different people. We believed in miracles, because we saw them with our own eyes," Kuznetsova said.
