The US delegation led by Center for Citizen Initiatives is planning to organize a swim for peace in Crimea, uniting Russian and Americans

SIMFEROPOL, June 21. /TASS/. A visit of a delegation of US activists and former government officials to Crimea symbolizes breaking the sanctions imposed on the peninsula, Elizabeth Murray, a delegation member, said on Tuesday.

"We condemn the sanctions and we actually feel that by coming here, by visiting Crimea and staying at the hotel there in Yalta and enjoying the Black Sea that we are in fact symbolically breaking the sanctions," Murray said at a news conference in Simferopol.

She said the energy and food blockades of Crimea were "human rights violation."

"It’s really shocking that it happened in such a peaceful place in Crimea," Murray said.

She said the delegation led by Center for Citizen Initiatives (CCI) President Sharon Tennison is planning to organize a swim for peace in Yalta on Wednesday.

"We would like to have as many Russians and Americans swimming together in the Black Sea as possible," Murray said.
