Russia’s investments in creation of new MC-21 aircraft total $1.1 bln
The new MC-21 passenger aircraft are set to replace Soviet Tu-134 and Tu-154 aircrafts, serial production is planned to start after 2020
MOSCOW, June 7. /TASS/. Russia’s investments in creation of the new MC-21 passenger aircraft total 75 bln rubles ($1.1 bln), Vladimir Gutenev First Vice-President of the State Duma’s Committee on Industry said on Tuesday.
"The government has invested in creation of the airplane a significant amount - 75 billion rubles, and this money was used effectively. As part of the project a unique aircraft production technology were developed, most modern, in particular composite materials are used," Gutenev said.
He was speaking ahead of the presentation of the new airliner which is to take place in the city of Irkutsk, on Wendesday.
The Irkut MC-21 is a series of twin-engine short-range and mid-range Russian jet airliners set to replace Soviet Tu-134 and Tu-154 aircraft and its Western analogues.
The first MC-21 plane is planned to take off this year.
Serial production of airliners is planned to start after 2020.
