WASHINGTON, May 22. /TASS/. A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Chinese island of Taiwan on Sunday, the US Geological Survey reported.

The epicenter was located 21 km northeast of the city of Pingtung. The seismic center lies at a depth of 10 km. There have been no reports about destruction and casualties.
