Drug control service dismisses Facebook post by its former chief as fake
According to the controversial publication, Viktor Ivanov regards the decision to abolish the service in its previous status as "erroneous, made under pressure"
MOSCOW, May 10. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service FSKN has dismissed as a provocation a post placed in the social network Facebook allegedly on behalf of its former chief, Viktor Ivanov, and formally asked Facebook administration to delete this post.
According to the controversial publication, Ivanov regards the decision to abolish the FSKN in its previous status as "erroneous, made under pressure from persons whose motives have nothing to do with the interests of the state, lacking the understanding of the problem of drugs and unfamiliar with its international aspects."
"As far as the May 10, 2016 post placed in the social network Facebook on behalf of the chairman of the State Anti-Drug Service FSKN Viktor Ivanov is concerned, we are obliged to say that the statement in question is provocative and apparently aimed at discrediting the service and its leadership," the FSKN press-service has told TASS.
According its statement Ivanov has nothing to do with the item in question or with accounts in Facebook or any other social networks.
"In this connection the FSKN dispatched an official message to the administration of Facebook with a request for deleting the unacceptable content. Bearing in mind the negative consequences the publication of a deliberate falsehood in the Internet may entail we express the certainty that the company will take every measure required to resist the circulation of news fakes," the FSKN official said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 5 signed a decree to abolish the Federal Drug Control Service FSKN and the federal migration service FMS. Their staff has been transferred to the Interior Ministry. Putin ordered the technical procedures should be completed by June 1, 2016.
