One dead body recovered from under debris after gas explosion in residential house

Rescuers are currently examining all apartments in the house

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. One dead body has been recovered from under the debris after a household explosion in a residential building in Russia’s southern city of Volgograd, a spokesman for the local law enforcement bodies told TASS on Sunday.

"The body was found on the seventh floor near the epicenter of the explosion," he said.

Rescuers are currently examining all apartments in the house.

The explosion took place on Sunday at the seventh floor of a nine-storey residential building. According to preliminary information, two blasts were heard. The building’s outer wall from the second to the ninth floor collapsed after the blast. The explosion was followed by fire on an area of 30 square meters. According to Oleg Grebenyuk, the chief of the Volgograd region emergencies department, fire in the house has been extinguished.

Eleven people hurt in the explosion were taken to hospital. Then of them are residents of the house, one was hurt while passing by the house.
