Poll: One in three Russians says US responsible for migration crisis in Europe
Only 16% of those polled say Middle East government are responsible for that
MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. More than 30% of Russians said in a survey the US is responsible for the migration crisis in the EU countries, Russia’s oldest polling institution WCIOM said analysing results of its survey.
Exactly 36% of the surveyed say the US is responsible for the situation, where migrants from the Middle East are going to the EU. Much fewer people (16%) say Middle East government are responsible for that. Some respondents accuse the global political system (9%) or the EU (6%). Another 5% say terrorists and Islamists are the reasons, the polling institution said in the report published on Monday.
Russia’s 86% respondents are aware of the migration problem in Europe, where more informed are retirees (89%) other than people between 18 and 24 (80%). Most Russians say the migrants from the Middle East are running from the war. Other reasons which make people leave their homes are economic problems, unemployment, etc.
The people coming from the Middle East rather cause sympathy (61%) than disapproval (3%). One in five (21%) said about indifference to their lives.
Speaking about the European countries, which accommodate the refugees, Russians said about respect (29%) and sympathy (22%), while 22% say they are indifferent.
The survey was conducted on October 10-11, 2015 in Russia’s 46 regions. The organizers questioned 1,600 people. The statistics margin is not exceeding 3.5%.
