MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. The Bishops’ Council or the Holy Synod of Russia’s Orthodox Church will announce policy on the remains of Russia’s last tsar after examination is complete, a church representative said on Friday.

Analysis has been under way of what are believed to be missing fragments, the official said, acknowledging government support for new tests of Romanov family remains requested by church authorities.

All family representatives living abroad — in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, the United States, Uruguay, France and Switzerland — have been told of plans for detailed examination of the remains.

A Russian government source said on Friday that comparative examination of the remains of Nicholas II and his father, emperor Alexander III, may be completed by early February.

Samples were taken from the remains of Nicholas II after exhumation in September and the bloodstained uniform of his grandfather, Alexander II.

Burial is expected when examination is complete, the official told reporters.
