French movie star Depardieu says proud of his Russian passport
"I am dreaming of buying an apartment in Moscow, and probably a house in Siberia, on Lake Baikal," the actor said
MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. French movie star Gerard Depardieu who was granted Russian citizenship in 2013 said on Wednesday he was proud of his Russian passport and was dreaming of an apartment in Moscow.
"I adore my Russian passport, everyone even in America asks me to show it. I am very proud," Depardieu told a news conference in Moscow.
"I am dreaming of buying an apartment in Moscow, and probably a house in Siberia, on Lake Baikal," the actor said. "I already have one in Saransk (the capital of the Russian republic of Mordovia)."
"Russia has no mountains to stop the wind," he added. "This phrase is very important for understanding Russia."
When asked if he wanted to get US citizenship, the actor said it was out of the question.
"They have very aggressive culture," he said. "And I don’t like their films. And it would be better if Europeans stop listening to Americans."
Depardieu and French actress Fanny Ardant arrived in Moscow to present "The Second Music," a love drama written by French author Marguerite Duras, at the capital’s Variety Theater.
