One killed, six injured in household gas explosion in Russia's Omsk

OMSK, September 22. /TASS/. A woman has been killed in a household gas explosion in a residential house in Omsk, southwestern Siberia, six were injured, health minister of the regional government Andrei Storozhenko told TASS on Tuesday.

"One woman was killed in the blast. Six more people were taken to hospital," he said.

The explosion occurred on the second floor of an eight-storey apartment house and partially destroyed ceilings at four apartments on the first floor and the outer wall of the building.

A spokesman for the local emergencies services said about 40 people had been evacuated from the house. Luckily, no fire followed the blast. A rescue operation is underway.

Earlier, local police said four people had been hurt in the explosion and one more was presumably buried under the debris.
